Speeding and injuries on the rise after removal of cameras – Ottawa reflects province-wide trend

Here’s a predictable and depressing list of Ottawa news of what has happened after Doug Ford removed all speed cameras in the city (and province). Thanks to Vision Zero Ottawa for sharing:

    • Ottawa Speed gun parties being held to shame drivers. Given the road’s use as an interprovincial route, residents advocating to have road handed over to the federal government, seeking exemption to provincial speed ban. NOTE: Gatineau (Québec side of the National Capital Region) still has its speed cameras.

    1. Please keep up the good work. Removal of what I call ‘safety cameras’ was a travesty especially when Ford’s government had the tools to tweak the program to make it fairer and more transparent. They were urged repeatedly to do so but didn’t.

    2. I AM ASHAMED TO BE CALLED A CONSERVATIVE WITH THE WAY OUR PREMIER SPENDS OUR TAX DOLLARS. HE HAS NO CONCERN OR COMPASSION FOR THE HARD WORKING CONSTITUENTS OF THIS PROVINCE. THAT IS SHOWN BY HIS LACK OF INTEREST IN EDUCATION AND HOSPITALS. I STILL CANNOT BELIEVE THAT HE TOOK THE SPEED CAMERAS DOWN, AND ALSO WAS MORE INTERESTED IN A “TRUMP LIKE ATTITUDE “ OF BUYING A PLANE(without prior consultation). I FIRMLY BELIEVE THAT THE CAMERAS SHOULD BE IMMEDIATELY RE-INSTALLED. SWALLOW YOUR PRIDE AND DO SOMETHING FOR THE PEOPLE . PLEASE FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO THE PREMIERS OFFICE
